The SEDCO Story

The SouthEastern DX & Contesting Organization (SEDCO), a non-profit organization, was founded in early 2005 for one reason.... to bring DXers and Contesters together in fellowship.

Lynn, W4NL, Rosie, KA4S, and George, W4UWC, organized SEDCO in early 2005 and from the beginning received experienced leadership from Carl, N4AA, of DX Publishing; Ted, W4NZ, of The Tennessee Contest Group (TCG); Scott, W4PA, of Ten-Tec; and David, K4PZT, our official photographer.  Now we can claim The Carolina DX Association (CDXA) and The East Tennessee DX Association (ETDXA) as super additions to the team.

We held the first SEDCO convention on Oct 1, 2005 in Pigeon Forge, TN, near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  Ten-Tec is a major player in SEDCO, handling ticket sales, and their popular hamfest provided an excellent opportunity to combine the two events and give Contesters and DXers a full day of enjoyment.

The first convention was a resounding success with a star studded cast of speakers who dedicated their time and money to share their experiences and knowledge.  No words can express their valuable contribution.  We must also acknowledge and thank the attendees who took a chance, in the true ham spirit, and assured  success.

SEDCO II 2006 is called for Sept 30, 2006 with some improvements to make it even better.  The W9DXCC has set an example for this type of convention, as has our west coast brothers/sisters, and we are doing our best to live up to their long standing contribution.

The Carolina DX Association is playing a larger part in 2006, and the members flatter us here in Tennessee by their talents on the bands, behind the scenes, around the world and attending in force.  They are some of our very best dXers and contesters.

Come join the SEDCO conventions on DX and Contesting, be part of the fellowship and of paying back to our wonderful hobby.  Spend some good times with old buddies, make some new buddies, learn from some of our best and know you too are paying back to ham radio.
